VILLA DHILAL
Dubai · [Concept / Private Residence]
Architecture · Landscape
A family villa near the sea, arranged as a series of low stone volumes set within a grove of mature palms. The house steps down in height towards the garden, so it sits among the trees and never rises above them.
The design responds first to Dubai's light and heat. Deep horizontal overhangs shade the glazing through the hottest hours, and vertical timber fins filter the low morning and evening sun. The result is a softer, more even light inside, with fewer sharp contrasts for the eye to manage through the day.
Travertine cladding gives the facades a warm, quiet texture that changes with the light. Full-height glass at ground level opens the living spaces to the garden, and a central glazed passage lets you look straight through the house to the water from the moment you arrive.
The planting is kept loose and low, with flowering shrubs and gravel beds along the approach and lawn closer to the house. A simple stone path leads to the entrance, slowing the pace of arrival.
The intention is a home that keeps its residents close to the outdoors throughout the year, with shade, material and view working together to make the climate feel gentler.
